after htaccess no results are shown any longer
Hello!
today evening I have tried to secure my joomla website via different .htaccess files, which I copied in the directories.
I think this is the cause, that my SexyPolling modul does not show the results any longer? After I have voted, I click on the "results" button. Then the window animates , but shows no numbers. Only below the "running bar" shows, that it tries to retrieve the numerbes , but doesn't get any.
I think I have to copy a htacces file "allow from all" to certain directories. Or the main, very large htaccess file suppresses the function of Sexy Polling.
Can someone give a help?
Johannes

Re: after htaccess no results are shown any longer
In the meantime I solved the problem of my own (at least I hope so
)by a lot of "trial and error", because I am not familiar with that stuff.
the .htacess files amongst others controls the accessibility etc. for all directories and files in their actual directory and pending directories.
The general limitations "deny from all" of the main file had been to strong for sexy polling, I had to define an exception rule for:
/~site root/components/com_sexypolling
and allowed access to the .php files in that directory.
Now it works again
Sure, for others will this be helpfull.

Hi,
I am neither a php nor security expert but opening up access to .php files particularly when the product advertises itself on the front end (Sexy Polling) seems to me to almost guarantee that your site will get hacked.
Is there any way to protect against this?

Hi,
You do not need to write any special rule for Sexy Polling extension. But it needs to have access to some .php files, and if you will block them by .htaccess, sure it will not work.
