Jumi on Joomla 1.6 adding my yahoo media player?

New postby sounds » Wed Feb 02, 2011 4:16 pm

I have a yahoo media player that slides out from the bottom of the page when you click play
I was wondering how would you install such in the joomla front end if possible?
It would be handy for a live shoutcast stream

It also has a snippet of code to display the song title and artist
I just used some reload page code so it updates the song title info every few secs.

here it is on a html page

I think it would be better if the user could have a seperate small window popup with the player
so they could still browse other pages on the site and still keep the player window opened.

Any tips appreciated

Hi [email protected],

If you're able to insert <script> tags to include JavaScript in your page, you'll be able to install the Yahoo! Media Player on your site.

This can be done easiest by adding a line of HTML to your source code. To do this you can either find a way to modify the raw source of a template, or from the WYSIWYG editor click on source view (typically a "<>" icon) and insert the following text:

Code: Select all
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://mediaplayer.yahoo.com/js"></script>

for the older player (yellow theme, no video support), or alternately this code:

Code: Select all
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://webplayer.yahooapis.com/player.js"></script>

to get the newest version of the player (with YouTube and Yahoo! Movie link recognition/playback, and slightly newer look and feel).

Good luck!
